Issa Rae has to be one of the most talented creators tasked with capturing the life of a young, millennial black woman in America…more specifically Southern Cali, even more specifically Los Angeles (and not Beverly Hills). Set mainly in South Central LA, Insecure took the world by storm and left many young black women thinking…”is she watching my life?!”
She so eloquently and hilariously captures the intricacies of black love lives, friendship drama, workplace issues, family and more leaving everyone in their feelings that we only get half an hour each week (let’s not even talk about the hiatus – withdrawal anyone?).
That said, we’re super excited for Issa’s new project, which sounds like it will be just as amazing! The Golden Globe nominee is working on a drama for HBO about Los Angeles in the ‘90s with author Angela Flournoy.
So far we know the project will center on an African-American family dealing with the events of the time period. This should be good!
